About

I'm Jake Hill, founder of Overflow Creative.

Jake Hill filming a live event

For 10+ years, I've created high-quality video content for businesses and churches. Additionally, I've trained others to produce their own videos and pursue careers in video production.

While getting my Digital Media degree from Liberty University, I worked with the University's creative team to capture and edit content from live campus events broadcast world-wide. I also led Liberty's video team for a national student advertising competition in support of Meta and Indeed, placing second in 2022 and first in 2023.

After graduating, I worked as the Video Producer at The Refuge Church in Kannapolis NC, until moving into the role of Production Director in 2025. Currently, I oversee a volunteer team and 2 staff members while continuing to train others in videography through a Video Production class at the church each Spring.

I also directed & edited a 1-hour long documentary film in 2025, and continue freelancing with other local businesses and churches. I create video educational content on Instagram, YouTube, and launched a full online course on church videography in 2025, containing 37 videos and 17+ total hours of content.

Philosophy

Why Church Video Matters

I believe video is one of the most powerful tools a church has to communicate its message. A well-produced video doesn't just look professional — it helps people connect with stories of transformation and hope.

My approach to teaching is rooted in accessibility. You don't need a massive budget or Hollywood equipment to create compelling video content. What you need is intentionality, a willingness to learn, and someone to show you how it's done.

That's what drives everything I do — from production work at The Refuge Church, to freelance projects, to building Better Church Video. I want to equip churches and creatives to tell stories that matter.
