I'm Jake Hill, founder of Overflow Creative.
I got my first camera in middle school and just started shooting everything I could find. I taught myself Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, anything I could get my hands on. Church became the place where I could actually put it into practice.
I started college at Liberty University in 2019 as a computer science major, switched to Digital Media with a church media focus sophomore year, and kept finding ways to put a camera in my hand wherever I could. Some of the best growth happened through Liberty's creative team and a national student advertising competition where I got to work alongside genuinely talented people who pushed me to keep learning. We placed second in 2022 and first in 2023, but more than the results, those experiences showed me what's possible when you're around the right people.
Throughout my entire journey, I've learned that connections are everything. The people you know remember you, and they reach out years later because you were the one with a camera. Out of college, I landed a full-time videographer role at a church outside Charlotte, NC, and have been there since. In 2025 I moved into the Production Director role, and got to utilize those live production skills all the way back from high school. Around the time I started full time at the church I started making YouTube videos on church videography. A year and a half later, in early 2025, I found myself launching an online course, Better Church Video. YouTube content kept going, and in early 2026 I put more energy into short-form content on Instagram.
I'm also still freelancing with local businesses and churches, creating content, taking any (okay, maybe not any) opportunity that comes my way, and working hard at what's in front of me!

Documented a week-long summer teen leadership camp each Summer run by current and retired Air Force special tactics operators. Shot & edited photos for daily social media recaps and video for a recap video of the week.

Led Liberty's video team developing an integrated marketing campaign for Meta Quest 2, finishing as national runner-up.
